What Internet Marketing Companies Can Learn From Pokemon Go

By Arthur Williams

Augmented reality is one of the most interesting pieces of technology we have today. This is especially true when you pair it with a unique premise and a cast of memorable characters. Such is the case with Pokemon Go, an app that came out this past July to quite a bit of fanfare. For both fans and newcomers alike, it proved to be engaging. As a matter of fact, there's much that Internet marketing companies can learn from the app in question.

In July, an app called Pokemon Go was released for iOS and Android platforms. For those who haven't tried it yet, the app allowed users to catch virtual Pokemon, which would be shown on their smartphones via augmented reality technology. The app became so popular that, not even a day after its released, it topped both the "Free" and "Top Grossing" charts on Apple's App Store. Everyone took notice of this app's growth, especially reputable authorities such as www.fishbat.com.

I believe that the main reason why Pokemon Go became popular is due to how engaging the app itself is. Keep in mind that many gamers have imagined the scenario where they could catch Pokemon in real life. Given the fictional nature of the series, though, it's impossible. However, smartphones have developed to such a degree that they can make virtual experiences possible, meaning that the development of the aforementioned app was simply a matter of time.

One can make the argument that Internet marketing companies, as well as others in business, can learn a lot from Pokemon Go. Perhaps the biggest takeaway is that one doesn't necessarily have to be a fan of a brand to become engaged. Even those who aren't tremendous Pokemon fans have not only downloaded this app but enjoyed it as well. It also shows that with new technology, Face Swap being another contemporary example, new ideas will have to be recognized.

As you can see, Pokemon Go has seen tremendous engagement since its release date and it's easy to see why. It has taken a desire that many longtime fans have had and made it as close to reality as possible. One can also make the claim that it silenced many critics that believed that Nintendo couldn't thrive in the mobile market. As we have come to learn, though, this couldn't have been further from the truth.
